Nokia 3, 5, 6

Once the king of cellphones, the Nokia empire was wiped out during the smartphone era, and has struggled to gain a foothold in the market. Nokia is officially making a comeback in 2017, announcing the Nokia 6 at CES and three more phones at MWC, including a throwback to a classic phone. These phones are manufactured by HMD Global, which is a Finnish company that has secured to rights to release phones and tablets under the Nokia brand.

LG G6

One of the most-anticipated phones at MWC is the LG G6, and it was officially announced this past weekend. Truth be told, LG G5 sales were disappointing due to cheap build quality, average overall performance, and a terrible approach to modular smartphones. A new design is now in place in hopes of regaining confidence in the LG G line of flagship smartphones. This time around, LG isn’t slapping on too many gimmicky features and is saying that they have listened to what users want in a smartphone.

On Saturday, Blackberry kicked off a series of pre-MWC press conference events and announced the Blackberry KeyOne. Once again, Blackberry has partnered with TCL on this phone (just like with the DTEK 50 and DTEK 60), but the design was mainly done in-house by Blackberry. The phone was previously known by its code name, “Mercury”, and was speculated to be called the DTEK 70, but the official naming has surely caught many people off guard. The KeyOne isn’t a complete stranger us, because it was already shown off a month ago at CES, however, specs were only released at this weekend’s event. Hot on LG’s heels, Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 on the same day LG announced the G5. Although Samsung didn’t really bring any game-changing feature to the table like LG’s modular-like design, the S7 does include many much needed upgrades from the S6 that fans will welcome and like. This time around, Samsung has decided to launch two phones at once, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Do note that this these phones do have almost identical specs and unless otherwise stated, I will be referring to the Galaxy S7. Let’s take a look at look at Samsung’s 2016 flagship.

LG G5

Mobile World Congress is upon us, and many phone have been released and announced already at the event, but on February 21, just one day before the official start of MWC, LG announced the highly anticipated LG G5. Seeing how LG has announced previous flagships around summer time, an MWC launch does seem to be a bit early, as the G4 was only launched eight months ago. Many are quick to point out that LG wants to be in direct competition with Samsung, and does not want their Korean rival to take the spotlight and sales away. Let’s take a look at LG’s newest flagship and how it attempts to compete with the other players.
