Nokia 3, 5, 6

Once the king of cellphones, the Nokia empire was wiped out during the smartphone era, and has struggled to gain a foothold in the market. Nokia is officially making a comeback in 2017, announcing the Nokia 6 at CES and three more phones at MWC, including a throwback to a classic phone. These phones are manufactured by HMD Global, which is a Finnish company that has secured to rights to release phones and tablets under the Nokia brand.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus

Huawei is currently the third largest smartphone maker in the world behind Apple and Samsung. To compete with these companies, Huawei has been releasing phones with premium build and specs. Ever since the success of the Nexus 6P, Huawei has taken great strides in an effort to conquer the global smartphone market. The P9 from last year was a very well-rounded phone from the design to the user experience, and they have just announced a followup, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus.

LG G6

One of the most-anticipated phones at MWC is the LG G6, and it was officially announced this past weekend. Truth be told, LG G5 sales were disappointing due to cheap build quality, average overall performance, and a terrible approach to modular smartphones. A new design is now in place in hopes of regaining confidence in the LG G line of flagship smartphones. This time around, LG isn’t slapping on too many gimmicky features and is saying that they have listened to what users want in a smartphone.

Blackberry KeyOne

On Saturday, Blackberry kicked off a series of pre-MWC press conference events and announced the Blackberry KeyOne. Once again, Blackberry has partnered with TCL on this phone (just like with the DTEK 50 and DTEK 60), but the design was mainly done in-house by Blackberry. The phone was previously known by its code name, “Mercury”, and was speculated to be called the DTEK 70, but the official naming has surely caught many people off guard. The KeyOne isn’t a complete stranger us, because it was already shown off a month ago at CES, however, specs were only released at this weekend’s event. MWC 2017 Press Events Roundup

Mobile World Congress 2017 is dawning upon us, and by tradition, companies are expected to announce their flagship phones for this year, as well as phones in other price ranges. This year, we are expecting phones housing near bezel-less displays with big scree-to-body ratios, dual camera setups, and phones that are expected to make a comeback. Starting form today and all the way leading up to the start of the event, there are a couple press events we are looking forward to, so let’s dive in to each one and see what we are expecting.
